Teacher Repositioning
– From Content Experts to SDL Facilitators:

Teachers are the heart of this transformation. We empower them to shift from being sole content providers to becoming architects of learning autonomy, nurturing independence and critical thinking:
SDL Mindset Incubation in Pre-Service Training:
We advocate for and integrate mandatory exposure to SDL practices and design-thinking modules within teacher education programs (B.Ed. and D.El.Ed.). This ensures future educators enter the profession equipped with the philosophy and practical skills to foster self-direction from day one.
Personal Learning Networks (PLNs):
We support teachers in forming interest-based online and offline cohorts for collaborative inquiry and action research. These PLNs provide a platform for educators to share best practices, problem-solve together, mentor peers, and continuously learn and adapt their SDL facilitation skills, supported by an open national platform.
Performance Incentives for SDL Mentorship:
We propose redesigning teacher appraisal systems to recognize and reward effective SDL mentorship. Metrics could include: the number of student-led inquiries mentored, the consistent use of portfolio-based assessment, and active contribution to national resource-sharing repositories for SDL practices. This encourages teachers to invest in fostering student autonomy.
